Video testimonials from former members of the Gülen Movement, and recordings of Fethullah Gülen speaking to followers, reveal the true face of the organization, which stands in stark contrast to the measured answers and public addresses given by spokespeople in English.
Fethullah Gülen (to his followers):
Dear God, incinerate their houses! Demolish their homes! Ruin their unity! May their hopes never see the light of day! Obstruct their path ahead! Destroy their futures! O God, defeat them and make them quake! And split their congregations! And break them into a thousand pieces! And inflict them with evil against one another!
Huseyin Gulerce (former president of the Gülenist Zaman newspaper):
These kids [Gülen recruits] are fooled into believing the Hoca [Gülen] can overcome the laws of physics, metaphysical powers, through dreams. I call this hypnosis. Because this hypnosis begins during the high school years, when military officers are in military high schools, even if these kids become generals in the military, they believe that Fethullah Gülen is the “Chosen Savior, the awaited Messiah…” and so they disregard any orders that are given to them by their commanding officers and only heed the orders of the “Chosen Leader,” the “Imam of the Universe.”
Nurettin Veren (former president of Gülen Schools):
Towards the end of 1995 at the Altunizade FEM (college entrance exam) [Gülen] said: ‘Take over the military, the tax authority, the police structure, the judicial system. When he said this, we were in a closed-door meeting with about 100-150 people and they all worked in these areas of government. At this point he could openly give them his command.”
Former teacher at a Gülen charter school in the US:
About a year into my employment with the school, I learned through one of my Turkish colleagues that all of the Turkish teachers at the school and the administrators were part of the Fethullah Gülen movement.
